About

My name is Ranika Singh (pronounced Ronika), and I am the Founder and Consultant of IMG Career Counselling, a small business located in Toronto dedicated to helping IMGs achieve success in the complex and competitive world of medical licensure in Canada.

Understanding the Process

I know how challenging the process can be with nearly 20 years of experience helping Medical Students, Residents, Physicians and International Medical Graduates (IMGs) match into their program of choice or successfully start a new career. Through personalized coaching, advice and support navigating the system, I can empower you to be the most competitive and successful applicant you can be.

My client base is diverse. Many are located here in Canada, from coast to coast.  Some are currently completing medical school abroad. Others are considering immigrating to Canada. Each has a unique background, skillset and story to tell. My international clients have shown me that despite the differences between healthcare systems, the commitment to delivering excellent patient care is the same worldwide. My Canadians studying medicine abroad keep me on my toes with their ambitions to return home and thrive in the career of their dreams.

My Story

So, what’s my story? I was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario to Indian immigrants who came to Canada in the 1970s. Toronto remains my homebase where I work and live with my husband and two children. I launched IMG Career Counselling during the pandemic (that was intense!) because I saw IMGs needed a significant information and support network to help them reach their career goals.

In 2021, I wrote my own ‘personal statement’ and became a Published Author, ‘She is Just Getting Started’ – real-life stories of women in business. In May 2022, I was recognized as a Top 100 finalist & as Recognition Award Nominee-IMG Career Counselling in a pitch competition presented by Scotiabank Women Initiative, powered by GoDaddy Canada. I am now a part of a Canada-wide initiative designed to propose recommendations to leverage International Medical Graduates (IMGs) to close healthcare labour market gaps in Canada. More recently, I have had 2 interviews with the CTV news channel on the critical health shortages in Canada and the doctor shortage for Indigenous patients.
